About Us
Jute and Burlap
Burlap yardage is available in full bales (Figure A), flat-folded pieces
(Figure B) and rolls (Figure C). The 12 oz is available only in rolls.
Jute Burlap has numerous uses. White Lamb Finlay Inc supplies
burlap products for use in the following industries:
CONSTRUCTION
Burlap is used in road and structural construction to cover poured concrete during
the curing process. Its low cost and biodegradable composition make it the best
economical and environmental choice. Burlap can also be used as temporary
fencing to control wind or snow, as well as spread on the ground to control erosion.
UPHOLSTERY
Burlap is widely used in the upholstery industry as a base and covering for furniture
parts. Burlap webbing (Figure D) is used to support seating springs in upholstered
furniture, as well as being used in chair backs and arms. Our Jute Webbing is 3.25”,
9lbs, 72 yd rolls, 12 rolls per bale.
HORTICULTURE / PLANT NURSERY
Burlap yardage is used to wrap trees and shrubs as protection against weather and
road salt during the winter season. It is used in a narrow width as tree trunk wrap,
to protect the bark from damage by foraging animals, as well as during transport.
Tree farms use burlap to line the wire basket that contains the tree’s root ball.
White Lamb Finlay provides both sewn basket liners and squares for this
purpose, available in any size in 7 and 10 oz burlap.
AGRICULTURE
We sell produce bags that are 28” x 18’’, commonly used as a 50 lb potato bag,
sewn in 7 oz burlap (Figure E). Planting seed and Animal feed are other items for
which burlap bags apply. Bags of other sizes are available upon request.
MINING
Burlap bags are used for ore samples, due to burlap’s high tensile strength.
Burlap squares are utilized as drill wipes, as they are cheap and biodegradable.
SHIPPING
Burlap can be used as packaging or dividers when shipping hardware, machine
parts and equipment. Burlap bags can be used in bag, sheet or tube form to ship
products that do not require the structure of a box or crate. As opposed to packaging
materials made from synthetics, burlap is made from 100% natural biodegradable
material, and can be disposed of without negative environmental consequences.
Breakage is rare, due to the burlap bag’s rugged strength.
FILM AND THEATER INDUSTRY
Burlap is a great material for building movie and theater sets.
It can be draped painted, and used as an underlay to contain
dirt or sand for easier clean up of the set.
SANDBAGS
We carry the standard 14” x 26” – 10 ounce Burlap Sandbag, which holds
50 lbs of sand, and has a tie string on the side. This sandbag is available
in plain or treated burlap. Treated burlap is rot and mildew resistant.
Other sizes are available on request.
RUG MANUFACTURING
Jute Burlap is used as backing for specialty area rugs and also for rug hooking.
